mission statement

GOD AT WORK IN US FOR THE GOOD OF OTHERS.

*****

Matthew 22:37-40:
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.

Over the past few months, Taste of Peace has been in prayer, seeking God’s direction for our next steps with this ministry. This week I was made aware of an urgent and heartbreaking situation: the Haitian community in Springfield is in crisis. I had the privilege of speaking with Pastor Reginald Silencieux, who shared with me the struggles many Haitians in Springfield are currently facing. Many have lost their jobs due to fear and external pressures, leaving families without the means to provide for their basic needs. Hunger has become a daily reality for too many. These are our neighbors—people who fled hardships in search of safety and opportunity, only to encounter new challenges here. It is clear that Taste of Peace must respond to this need. I believe that by coming together, we can bring tangible relief and show the love of Christ to a community that has been overlooked, misjudged, and marginalized. To answer this call, Taste of Peace is partnering with Coffee Connections in Hilliard to collect essential food items, which we will deliver to Springfield on Sunday, September 29th. We are asking for your generous support in donating any of the following: White rice Dried black beans and pinto beans Cooking oil Sugar Onions Milk (grocery gift cards only, please) You can drop off donations at: Coffee Connections, 4004 Main St. Hilliard, OH Cornerstone Church, 4066 Main Street, Hilliard, OH. (There will be a dropbox at the side door of the church) These basic staples will make an incredible difference for families who are struggling to feed their children. This is not just about food—it’s about offering hope and letting these families know they are seen, valued, and loved. I invite you to prayerfully consider how you can contribute to this effort, whether by donating items, offering your time, or lifting this initiative in prayer. Together, we can make a profound impact on the lives of these refugees and remind them that they are not alone. In the coming weeks, I will share further updates, including details about future Taste of Peace gatherings where we can continue to learn and grow in our mission to serve refugees and those in need within our communities. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your continued support and faithfulness. Your generosity is a living testament to the love of Christ, and I am deeply grateful for the way we come together to meet the needs of those around us. With gratitude and peace, Irma Chon Taste of Peace
