Meet The Makers

Riza
I’m from Afghanistan. I have been in the United States since December 2021. Life is busy between being a wife and mother of five amazing children. Since moving to America, I found I really appreciate EVERYTHING that is available here. I really am so grateful for the welcome I received when I came here not even knowing how to speak English. I enjoy sharing my Afghan culture and food with my new friends.

I’m from Sudan. I’ve been in the United States for seven years. I love it here! People are so polite and helpful. I love America. I love that it’s safe here for me and my family. Where we came from is very dangerous. I have battled breast cancer for three years since being in the States. I am so grateful to have the medical doctors and team here to help me in my journey to recovery. My whole medical team is American– so kind & helpful. It is a blessing. Never in my life have I seen such kind treatment toward humanity. I’m excited to share my food and culture with you!

From Our Family to Yours: The Story of Ahalna’s Kitchen
For us, food is more than just a meal; it is a conversation between generations, a labor of love, and a living family history.

We are Rawaa and Noor, mother and daughter, and the hands, hearts, and minds behind these flavors. Our kitchen is built on a legacy passed down through three generations of women, from grandmother to mother, and mother to daughter. Growing up, we spent our days together in sun-drenched kitchens, perfecting the delicate art of Mediterranean spice, fresh olive oil, and time-honored recipes.

As mothers and homemakers, we have always believed that the best food requires patience, simple ingredients, and a touch of history. After years of perfecting these heirloom dishes for our own family, we are stepping into the farmers market together to share our heritage with you.

Every dish we share is made fresh for the modern, health-conscious family, bringing the authentic, vibrant flavors of the Mediterranean straight to your table. From our family to yours; eat well, live well!

I am from Eritrea. I have only been in the United States for three months. I didn’t know what to expect when I got here – and we’re still overwhelmed with everything we are learning. It’s a nice place with nice people that are so helpful. We came from an very dangerous situation in our country and spent twelve years in Israel. Again we needed to move for safety and we’re grateful to be here, especially for my two children– aged 9 & 6. You have to try my injera bread with the vegetarian sauce!
